Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Exceptionally unique and colossal. The fish was soaked in garlic cloves, leeks and leek oil. It's an incredible pot of flavour and satisfaction. Crabs were abundant and noodles were eggy and garlicky. Loved the coconut avocado pudding/shake as it was very organic and I did not taste anything synthetic like immediate sugars. Pure coconut. Pure avocado. Would definitely come again."
"Those who have not tried the private kitchen in Auntie Sim @ Uptown, I have to tell you that the first floor of the shoplot has private room for more discerning diners where Chef William Kwok (himself from HK) whipped out lip smacking my delicious Cantonese cuisine. Reservation is normally required in order for the chef to prepare. All of us enjoyed best of both worlds - combination of Teochew and Cantonese cuisine. Started with cockles & Teochew spring rolls, and then adjourned to heavier dishes such as braised beancurd, Indonesian curry prawns, deep fried intestines, salt & pepper squids, fermented beancurd pork belly, braised pork trotter and others... All washed down by wines and whiskies... Lots of them! For real actions ie. More serious food (and by serious it means serious money as well), book their private room. As most of the time we are on AA mode, I'd paid on average RM150-200 per pax not including alcohol ya. Their ground floor restaurant serves regular Teochew as well as Cantonese food items."
"In conjunction with their 15 years anniversary and 15% discount, we visited Aunty Sim private dine at Damansara Utama. They are also having other promotion like RM118 for two XL crabs, which is quite worth the money, given it's freshness and taste. Almost all dishes are their signature and we ordered the claypot braised pork tendon, garlic fried pork belly, steam fish, egg and vege in total. The pork tendon is braised well with deep flavor and the garloc pork belly is fried until crispy but a little tad salty. The egg and vege are also properly done with the right doneness. I have mixed feelings for the fish. We ordered the dragon tiger grouper, which was very fresh to be honest. But the fish was slightly over steamed, and the lack of ginger feels something is missing. Although I understand the owner's intention to highlight the freshness without the need of ginger, the fish however wasn't properly clean thoroughly especially at the head and many scales are leftover on the skin, hence there's a slight fishy-ness and unpleasant eating experience for the parts nearer to the dorsal fins and collar. The service is superb, with the waiter and owner constantly checking on our needs. This deserves a compliment. Prices are on the higher end if without the discount but once awhile we should appreciate the effort to prepare good food."
"Amazing service from friendly and warm Alice. Delicious steamed pork, good vegetable in soup stock and Sweet sour Pork too. Park opposite at UOB bank. RM 3 for weekends only."
"First visit for Saturday lunch to try their set lunch. Ordered Cantonese hor fun, meehoon fried bitter gourd and sliced fish fillet in spring onion n ginger rice. All dishes were good, full of wok hei and the right seasoning. I especially like the fish fillet as the cut is thick and it's fresh n juicy. As an afterthought I ordered their king coconut with avocado dessert without checking the price. Big mistake ,tastes great no doubt but it's RM21/portion .(Yes I am a cheapskate) Overall it is still a good experience and they also have a set menu for 3-4 pax. Parking is definitely an issue."
"First visit with family. It’s popular during weekend evenings and we were lucky to get a table without reservation since we were early. Staff was prompt though quite busy. Food was delicious. I was especially glad to find braised chicken with brinjal in the menu. Overall, dinner was filling and pleasant with surprising finds in the menu. Recommended and will return."
"The ‘overall’ taste is definitely above-average but do check out the receipt that I am sharing. Most items are over priced. I ordered the homemade prawn cake (6pcs; premium price of RM78; pic no. 5) bcos I remembered that my dad used to cook this for me when I was young, it’s a ‘easy dish’ for children . This dish is just like 2 plates of dim sum and the maximum cost should not exceed RM30-RM40 but they charged RM78 excluding tax… By the way, the braised soon hock in claypot has too many fine bones so it was really difficult to eat. The taste is good though… Last but not least, skip the pig stomach soup. It is totally not worth it…"
"Food we ordered surprised us a lot! They were so nice we are very happy with the food quality. All the flavour is just on the point. Just that portion could be quite small despite the price that we are paying. The Yeesang is so freshhhh. One of the woman captain attitude not good, perhaps she thinks she's being authentic."
